Plain syle

In “the plain style,” the Puritans are depicted as simple religious people.  The article portrays them as denouncing the pomp and circumstance, in favor of the “word” itself.  I guess they believed that God’s word did not require any sort of embellishments, but that the word would do its job and inspire individuals.
In relation to what we’ve learned about the Puritans, they lived simple, worked hard and saved their money.
